Translation Nation travelled to Maidstone in 2014 and created a huge buzz throughout the school. The school did a fantastic job of encouraging parents to take part, with some family members coming into school and some children using a school ipad to record a family member at home telling a story in their home language so that they could then bring this into school and share it with their class. One mother proved a hit storyteller with a rendition of a story in Shona complete with costume, props and sound effects! The children worked hard to complete imaginative retellings of the stories in English and wowed their audience with their final performances. The project created such an impact that Brunswick House is now planning its own version of the project to involve every year group throughout the school!
