langley park school for boys

Langley Park School in Bromley wanted to take part in Translation Nation to help to reinforce the importance and value of language learning in a different, challenging and exciting way. In summer 2014 two of their KS3 French classes took part in a workshop, and stepped up to the task of creating their own subtitles to a film clip from ‘Entre Les Murs’. The boys debated the best translations for slang, puns and jokes and were surprised by the number of changes they needed to make to achieve the perfect set of subtitles. They did an excellent job, and left feeling informed about the many opportunities there are for translators and interpreters in the media today, particularly in sport, television and film.
